About the Church

Worship

When it comes to worship, Lutherans are part of a liturgical tradition. This means that worship will follow a pattern that is historical and predictable and--at Dobbs Ferry Lutheran Church--lively. For Lutheran Christians, that lively pattern centers on the work of God who gives us life in Word and Sacrament. This means that each Sunday's worship includes preaching (as well as a special children's sermon) and the celebration of Holy Communion. All baptized Christians who receive Holy Communion in their own congregations are welcome to receive Holy Communion here. (You do not have to be Lutheran.) It is because God engages us in such lively worship that we leave worship strengthened to serve God in lively and imaginative ways.
